The image below is looking north along Lamlash front towards the pier. The Lamlash Memorial is to left in the image, and the two hotels look over the front. The hotels are popular for drinks, tea, coffee and meals.

The image below is of the The Lamlash Highland Clearance Memorial, giving information on Arran people that were forced to emigrate in the years between 1829 and 1840.

On the 25th April 1829, 86 locals departed Lamlash on the 196 ton brig Caledonia, as the Rev A Mackay preached from a Mound by the pier. These were the first locals of Arran to move to Canada and America.

The Caledonia arrived at Quebec City on the 25th June 1829.

The image below is of the booking office at Lamlash Pier for the trips to the Holy Isle, as can be seen across the bay.

The small red boat is one of two that run back and forth throughout the day when the weather is suitable in summer. The last ferry back is about 17.00. For more information, Tel: 07904 846 765.
